The future of my webspace

The future of my webspace

Lately, an idea has been on my mind.

And, usually, as with most of the ideas I’ve had for this space, I get obsessed with it, open Visual Studio Code, and dive right in to develop it as quickly as possible. But not this one.

This idea, this feeling, has been taking root in me for a while.

It’s an idea that would completely change both the scope of this page and the audience it would reach. And it’s about language.

There’s a chance you already know this or have noticed it. My primary language isn’t English. It’s Spanish.

And when I joined Neocities, I took on this project of creating my own digital space to kill two birds with one stone: to expand my English vocabulary and, in doing so, reach more people with whatever I was doing in that space.

But there’s a feeling inside me with everything I write that makes me want to connect more with my primary language, expand it, and learn to express myself more deeply.

Between writing here in English and using it in chats outside of this space, I feel like I’m missing out on a learning opportunity. And, on the other hand, I also feel like I’m going to lose a way to (try to) connect with more people through a “universal” language.

If English is like a Swiss Army knife I keep close at hand, giving me the confidence that I can handle a wide range of tasks in any situation, Spanish is that love for your homeland, your roots, and your innermost self... a love that has been with you from the very beginning.

Maybe this blog post will help me see what I really want and, above all, realize the monumental task that awaits me if I decide to make that change.

Maybe this is the last post in English… who knows?
